i remember we had a magnet on our refrigerator that had little pictures with different occupations written underneath them and there was a little black square you could move around to frame one of the careers. i remember i'd tilt the square so it was covering two careers at a time, four corners carefully pointing to other jobs i also wanted. i wanted to be a writer, an actress, a dancer, an artist, a teacher, a veterinarian, a mother. i wanted to be a princess. i wanted to be everything, i wanted all of it, i wanted and wanted and wanted
